The MK-100 Modular Galley

The MK-100 is an industrial galley architecture: modular processing blades mounted in standard 19-inch rack enclosures, connected by a superconducting MagLev transport rail built on Highfield Magnetics permanent magnet arrays. Each blade performs a single thermal or mechanical operation. The rail routes dishes between blades in programmable sequences, enabling parallel preparation of dishes with incompatible thermal requirements.

The MagLev Pass

Superconducting MagLev rail. Serving dishes float magnetically at 5 m/s with sub-millimetre precision. Non-linear routing: a salad goes to the Cold Blade while a steak goes to the Plasma Blade.

The Weavers
Additive manufacturing. Extrudes noodles at 120 g/min, crusts at 80 g/min, weaves meat fibres at 5 μm resolution.
B-BLADES
The Reactors
IR emitters (2,500 W/m²), atmospheric plasma torches (12,000°C jet, 2 mm focal spot), superheated steam at 200°C. Surface sear depth: 0.8 mm in 4 seconds.
C-BLADES
The Abyss
LN2 fog for instant ice cream. Vacuum flash-cooling.

The Human Role: “The Architect”

No line cooks. The Head Chef sits at a terminal and designs algorithms. “Adjust noodle tensile strength by 5%. Increase Maillard depth by 0.2mm.” The machine is the body; the chef is the code.
