EVENT HORIZON — THE ONE-SECOND CAKE
The MK-05 proved a cake could be baked in 5 seconds. The MK-06 asks: why not one? The answer required abandoning contact entirely. The food never touches anything.
Stage 1: RF Volumetric Heating (T+0.0–0.3s)
Radio-frequency waves penetrate the entire batter volume at once. Temperature rises from 70°F to 210°F in 300 milliseconds. Perfectly uniform energy distribution.
Stage 2: Ultrasonic Texture Lock (T+0.2–0.6s)
Ultrasonic transducers fire acoustic waves into the levitating batter. Controlled cavitation nucleates millions of micro-bubbles simultaneously. Standing waves organise the bubbles into repeatable size and spacing patterns.
Stage 3: Aero-Mist Flavour Injection (T+0.5–0.8s)
Flavour compounds delivered as nebulised micro-mist. Particles under 5 microns penetrate the still-porous crumb structure. Same base batter, any flavour.
Stage 4: Surface Flash (T+0.8–1.0s)
IR VCSEL emitters apply a 200-millisecond pulse to all surfaces simultaneously (possible because the cake is floating). Magnetic cradle releases. Cake drops to plate.
One second is not arbitrary. It is the physical minimum for a cake that is recognisably a cake — the boundary beyond which starch gelatinization, protein denaturation, and Maillard crust formation cannot propagate fast enough.
